About the Program

The Community Health program at NKST College of Health Technology, Mkar, prepares students to deliver primary healthcare services in both rural and urban communities.

Graduates are trained as community health extension workers, focusing on health education, disease prevention, and community mobilization to improve public health outcomes. The program equips students with practical and community-based healthcare knowledge needed to support individuals, families, and communities in promoting healthy living.

Admission Guide

Entry Requirements

To join the Community Health Department program, candidates must meet the following criteria.

O'Level Requirement

Five (5) credit passes at SSCE, WAEC, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level at not more than two sittings.

Core Subjects

Credits must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

JAMB / UTME

Candidates must attempt JAMB/UTME and score at least 100 marks.

Screening & SIWES

Candidates must pass the College screening and interview, with SIWES required after two years of study.

Detailed Requirements

Candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at SSCE (WAEC, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level), at not more than two sittings.
These credits must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Candidates must attempt JAMB/UTME and score at least 100 marks.
Candidates must also pass the College's screening and interview.
After two years of study, students embark on a compulsory one-year Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) in four different health facilities under the supervision of the College.
